Barking Mad’s favourite ever Animation film is…..

A lot of peoples’ favourite animated film will take them to the house of mouse known as Disney Studios, and we at Barking Mad About Films are no different
Whilst a lot of those will go for the Lion King, Frozen etc or maybe one of the Pixar efforts such as Toy Story but for us, the one that we watch on repeat viewing is the 2002 release of Lilo and Stitch
I have lost count of the number of times I have watched this film and numerous Stitch’s can be found in our home too
It is a simple enough story, an alien fugitive known as experiment 626 has landed on earth, hawaii to be precise and finds lonely girl Lilo (voiced by Daveigh Chase who in the same year was scaring movie audiences as Samara in the US remake of The Ring)  currently struggling following the loss of her parents and living with her older sister Nani (voiced by Tia Carrere)
626 is on the run from Alien bounty hunters Jumba and Pleakley (voiced by David Ogden Stiers and Kevin McDonald) who are under strict orders not to engage with any humans, 626 knowing this befriends Lilo who takes him on as her pet providing he can be trained as Cobra Bubbles, the scary social worker is on their case
626 is renamed Stitch and to a rocking Elvis soundtrack is taught how to be good and learns the meaning of love and of course becomes tamed to live happily ever after with Lilo and Nani
I personally think the Chris Sanders drawn (and voiced) Stitch  is one of Disney’s best ever characters (as previously mention I have a few of them around the house)
Whilst Stitch has not been served well by 2 direct to DVD sequels as well as a TV Show discovering the previous 625 experiments, this film is an absolute gem and I am proud to have it in my collection
