With so many new streaming platforms, production companies need to get new content for them.
An easy way of doing that is creating a TV show based on an existing film, recently for example, we had shows based on:
Willow
Fatal Attraction
Wednesday from The Addams Family
Boiling Point
American Gigolo
Reacher
The list goes on and on, but here are five more that are on the way
5. The Spiderwick Chronicles

Originally a 2008 film starring Freddie Highmore, based on a popular book series, didnt set the box office alight so no sequels followed.
The Disney channel announced they would create a new show aroudn the books, but then passed despite completing the first season.
They put it out to market and it will now air on the ROKU Channel
4. Sexy Beast

Paramount+ will be making a tv series that will act as a prequel to the 2000 film which will act as origin stories for Ray Winstone’s ‘Gal; Ben Kingsley’s ‘Don’ & Ian McShane’s ‘Teddy’s characters.
3. One Day

David Nicholl’s best selling book had already been adapted as a 2011 film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, with David himself writing the screenplay.
Despite that, the film whilst did okay, was not loved at all, especially by fans of the book, which probably explains why we are now getting a TV series based on the book from Netflix
2. Mr and Mrs Smith

The 2005 Doug Liman directed film was a massive hit, which even established a relationship for its two stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
The story of a couple being assassins for rival companies being hired to kill each other, is coming to us as a TV series now from Amazon starring Donal Glover (who also acts as the shows creator) and Maya Erskine
and at Number 1. Ted

We loved the two adventures of the foul mouthed teddy created by and voiced by Seth MacFarlane.
This series will act as an origin story of the relationship of Ted and the John character played by Mark Wahlberg in the films.
It is coming to the UK on Sky TV
More and more need for content for streaming sites, will see more films head to the small screen, Netflix have announced a TV show is on way based on the Guy Ritchie movie and HBO are creating an IT prequel series to give us more Pennywise.
Which movie would you like to see return in TV form and are you looking forward to any of these shows?
