Whilst we often see films for our favourite actors/actresses, it can often be the characters they play/voice we fall in love with, and they may be an animated or with advances in CGI and special effects, they can be something else not even human!
So who made our Top 10 non-human characters of 2016:
10. Baloo (Voiced by Bill Murray) in the Jungle Book 2016

The live action Jungle Book took us by surprise as it really was a great watch, so many great characters, the wolf cubs especially reminded us of our Pepper but it was Bill Murray who made sure the animated legend of Baloo from the 1967 original was not tarnished

9. Steven Seagull (played by Sully) in The Shallows

We are a big fan of shark movies and loved this thriller starring Blake Lively, almost by herself, however she wasn’t alone thanks to a brilliant perform by her only companion on the rock, she waits on trying to avoid the big fish, who she names Steven Seagull, presumably after Steven Seagal

8. Black Phillip (voiced by Wahab Chaudhry) in The Witch

This great horror film about witchcraft had a great stand out performance from Anya Taylor-Joy but it was the eerie sheep known as Black Phillip who we loved as much

7. Chico from The Secret Life of Pets

We had to include Chico even though he is more used for marketing the film than being a lead character. Had this fun chihuahua been in the film more, we’re sure he would have rated higher, here’s hoping he gets promoted for the green lit sequel.

6. Slimer (Voiced by Adam Ray) in Ghostbusters 2016

We maybe in the minority but we loved the reboot, yet despite a new ghost in Rowan, it was the return of Slimer with a lady friend which brought the biggest smile for us

5. K-2SO (Voiced by Alan Tudyk) in Rogue One

Last year BB-8 won fans from Star Wars: The Force Awakens this year K2 with his sarcasm and support for the rebels did the same for this new Star Wars story

4. Creech from Monster Trucks

This brilliant CGI monster won us over in the film trailers, so much so we had to see Monster Trucks on its release. A character so good, the film feels like something is missing when he is not on screen

3. Flash (voiced by Raymond S. Persi) from Zootropolis

This great Disney film was one of our favs of the year, but it was Flash that won our hearts at the incredibly slow Sloth working at the DMV, make sure you stay till the end where he will have you laughing out loud with a change of speed

2. Gerald (Voiced by Torbin Xan Bullock) from Finding Dory

No question the sharks were our favourites from Finding Nemo, but the bullied sea lion, Gerald won our hearts from its sequel. Many felt it was horrible to treat him this way but for those who stay to the end, it was great to see him get the last laugh over the ‘bullies’ Fluke and Rudder

1. Niffler from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

These treasure hunting creatures absolutely made the film for us, so cute and funny, we are amazed by the lack of merchandise for them, which surely would have dented our bank account =)
