What's This?

As we enter a new year, we have an exciting year of films coming, many of course will be sequels, remakes or reboots, but these are the 10 that we know we definitely can not wait to see.

So without further ado, here is our 10 films we’re most looking forward to at present.

  1. Red Sparrow – Release March 2nd

Jennifer Lawrence reteams with her Hunger Games franchise director Francis Lawrence for this thriller about Russian Intelligence Agents, based on the book we enjoyed last year by Jason Matthews. (Our review)

A strong supporting cast which includes Joel Edgerton & Jeremy Irons only adds to our excitement

9. Deadpool 2 – Release June 1st

We loved the first film which was a massive hit for Ryan Reynolds and we hope the magic can be recaptured. With a new director on board, it may change style but it does keep the same writers.

  1. The Shape of Water – Release February 14th

This film has already been released in many countries already, from director Guillermo del Toro who we love, we can not wait for this creature feature

  1. Solo: A Star Wars Story – Release 25th May

This ‘Star Wars’ spin-off film will tell of the early days of Han Solo. It will also include the likes of Lando and Chewbacca.

A change of director during the making, albeit to the dependable Ron Howard, has raised our concerns but it should still be a great entry for this franchise.

  1. Hotel Artemis – Release date unconfirmed as yet

Little is known about this futuristic thriller from Iron Man 3 and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation writer Drew Pearce.

But the cast excites us, as includes Jodie Foster; Sterling K. Brown; Jeff Goldblum; Zachary Quinto & Dave Bautista.

  1. The New Mutants – Release 11th April

Another R-rated horror from Marvel comic book origins with a cast that includes Anya Taylor-Joy; Maisie Williams & Charlie Heaton.

This looks like it could offer thrills and scares and other R Rated comic films Logan and Deadpool have delivered the goods so hope this adds to that list

  1. Ready Player One – Release 30th March

Set in a world of virtual reality, its creator offers from his deathbed total control of it, if they can find the Easter Egg he has hidden. We absolutely loved the book and can’t wait to see the many pop culture references contained in it, as the quest is brought to the screen from director Steven Spielberg, can’t go wrong surely?

  1. The Predator – Release 3rd August

Another sequel to feature the Predator, we are hoping for something better than the 2 AvP movies & Predators. With Shane Black, who starred in the Schwarzenegger original, writing and directing we have high hopes on the basis of his previous works such as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys.

  1. Venom – Release 5th October

Another film from the Marvel universe, the character, of course, has been seen before in Spider-Man 3 and with Tom Hardy in the title this should be worth seeing, also coming from the director of Zombieland, should include some fun moments too

And at 1: The Meg – Release 10th August

We read the book in 1998 and have waited ever since for the film. We are not that impressed with the casting of Jason Statham as Jonas and it looks like many changes have been made to the book but if this tale delivers on the prehistoric shark, the meg of the title this should be an absolute spectacle

They are our personal 10 but what are yours? we are sure many of you can’t wait for the sequels to X-Men; Avengers and Jurassic World but whatever you want to see, enjoy and hope the wait doesn’t go on too long for you =)
