What's This?

Even though we are Barking Mad About Films, we don’t hate the feline species so we finally caught up with the Kitten action comedy film that is Keanu.

The film starts with a pair of assassins known as the Allentown Boys (played by Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key) and breaking into a drug den and killing all inside and taking the drug boss, King Diaz’s kitten (Ian Casselberry)

Upon leaving the premises the 2 are shot at by the police and the kitten manages to escape.

Rell (also played by Peele) finds the kitten on his doorstep, who he names Keanu and the 2 become inseparable. Keanu is just what Rell needs, he has been recently broken up with his girlfriend and is heartbroken, but the kitten helps him move on and the 2 plan to make a film parody calendar.

When Rell’s cousin, Clarence (also played by Key) takes him out to see a film, when his wife (Nia Long) is out of town, Keanu is stolen when the house is burgled.

Rell believes this maybe something to do with his drug dealer neighbour, Hulka (Will Forte) and they learn that Keanu was taken by the 17th St. Blips gang led by Cheddar (Method Man)  who renames him, New Jack, after the gang film New Jack City.

Rell and Clarence, under the names of Tectonic & Shark Tank, agree to join the gang and complete a high-profile deal to get Keanu back by convincing them they are the Allentown Boys.

What follows is a great action comedy film with some drug antics that would remind you of a Seth Rogen film, including a crazy drug deal which features Anna Faris & even romance as Rell comes close to gang member Hi-C (Tiffany Haddish) and a love of the music of the late George Michael, which culminates in a vision of performing Faith in a drug infused sequel where Keanu gets the voice of Keanu Reeves in a cameo and he i even quotes Bill and Ted and The Matrix)

The film culminates with a big shoot out that action films will love as the Blips gang face off to Diaz’s cousin Bacon (Luiz Guzman) gang and you will have to watch Keanu to find out if Rell and his kitten get reunited.

The Film is directed by the Key & Peele show regular director Peter Atencio and is a written by Alex Rubens with Jordan Peele.
