THE BMAF REVIEW

We went into Halloween 2018, seeing this as a fan of the franchise wanting to be impressed, especially as its writer/director had made the bold claim that they wanted us, viewers, to forget everything that happened after the incredible 1978 original from John Carpenter.

And the reality is that we found plenty to like, The Shape that is now all that is left of young Michael Myers is almost like The Terminator, in his relentless quest to kill Laurie and some great scenes, especially around 2 bloggers who seem to think they can get Myers to tell his story, having never said a word.

It looks great and the soundtrack from Carpenter gives the film a star alone as it really is an extra cast member in the film

So overall we liked it, but it is not without faults, a new character to replace the Loomis character of Donald Pleasance is at times ridiculous. Also does feel a little of a let down that a film which is widely promoted on Curtis returning as Laurie, features very little screen time.

Fans of the genre and indeed this franchise will love it so if like us you are one of those we highly recommend you check it out

THE BMAF RATING

4 Star Review of Halloween 2018
With so many fond memories of this franchise, which we are asked to forget about, we went into Halloween with an open mind.
It does deliver the terror of the 78 original, Curtis being again a great nemesis to The Shape and the soundtrack is incredible
Fans of the genre will love it but if it spawns as many sequels we will have to wait and see
