What's This?

It’s no secret that we at BMaF love the actress Jennifer Lawrence, we think that she’s a great actress and admit to finding her very nice to look at too =)

Her plate of upcoming projects seems to be getting larger & larger and whilst the film Passengers which she is making opposite Chris Pratt is getting the attention, another role she is attached to is that of Rosie in The Rosie Project

Based on a book by Graeme Simsion, having seen the synopsis I just had to give it a read

The Rosie Project follows College professor Don, who clearly shows signs of being on the autistic spectrum, probably Aspergers, has trouble forming relationships with both men and women.

He is at the stage in his life where he decides that he wants a wife, but due to the autistic nature of his life, this will be harder than he thinks, with his life being run by a by the minute schedule, in addition he has a minimal choice of other things, the same dinner on the same day, adamant what shirt to wear for what event etc

Not wishing to offend future dates, he creates a questionnaire to make sure all partners are compatible to his every need, this will create ‘the Wife Project’

After a few potential dates all fail for certain aspects of the questionnaire, Don is almost ready to give up,

Don has one friend at the college, Gene who is almost the complete opposite of him, certainly confident with women. It is due to this friendship, Gene sends Don his student Rosie on a date, it would appear to annoy her

After an awkward date involving what Don feels is an acceptable jacket and Rosie defusing the situation, the two bond. Rosie, being a smoker is completely unsuitable as a candidate for the wife project but Don discovers that Rosie is desperate to know her real father

Don, with access to the necessary DNA testing equipment sets up the ‘Rosie Project’ to test the numerous candidates from a photo of the event where Rosie’s mum met the man whose night of passion with which would leave her as a mum to be

What follows is a great story of Don & Rosie’s adventure to find the father whilst also trying to find Don candidates for the wife project

Of course Don & Rosie through running a bar to get DNA samples & a trip to New York get closer, will Don waive the requirements of the Wife Project to let Rosie in, will Rosie accept Don’s ways and does age think he’s capable of love, I suggest you track down the book & find out, in the meantime we are going to add the books sequel to our reading list

I feel it appears to be perfect casting of Jennifer as Rosie (No stranger to making a book adaptation a success as the  Hunger Games shows) and with Richard (Boyhood, School of Rock) Linklater on board to direct this is one we at the BMaF will be keeping an eye on

Have you read the book, what did you think? Who would you cast as Don & Gene? Let us know
