Barking Mad About Films, TV, and Books

One man and his dog; both barking mad about films, TV, and books

The BMAF Top 10 Films of 2017

December 16, 2017 by Bill Leave a Comment

As we are about to go on our annual holiday its time to leave you with our end of year Top 10 Films of 2017!

Did any of your favourites make it?

At 10: Logan: Our review

It was a better year for heroes with Wonder Woman; Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Thor: Ragnarok all fighting for a place but it was Logan that made our 10

At 9: A Monster Calls: Our Review

We loved the book and the film did it justice, beautiful film.

At 8: Baby Driver: Our Review

This would probably have placed higher but now when we see it, we just see Kevin Spacey and that makes us sad as it is such a brilliant film =(

At 7: Kong: Skull Island: Our Review

We actually thought this would be awful, but it was probably our biggest surprise of the year, a fun creature feature

At 6: La La Land: Our Review

One of the first films we saw this year, but this musical felt original and we loved it

At 5: War for the Planet of the Apes: Our Review

Probably the best trilogy of this decade, a quality film, and a fitting finale if no more follow

At 4: The Disaster Artist: Our Review

We loved the Room, and this fitting biopic of the making was a great character piece

At 3: Blade Runner 2049: Our Review

A superb sequel that dare we say was worth the wait!

At 2:  It: Our review

A brilliant telling of the first half of Stephen King’s book, we thought only Tim Curry could be Pennywise but this was just excellent, with scares but also tapping in on the retro feel of shows like Stranger Things

But at 1 it is Star Wars: The Last Jedi: Our review

We know many will disagree, but this was just thrilling, great set pieces, laughs and characters, a real treat for us

We are sure you will disagree with some of these and that is the joy of film going, we are all entitled to our own opinions. See you in 2018
