THE BMAF REVIEW

We went into this one, not knowing what to expect, we were very much in the minority, but we enjoyed the Last Jedi, but we also enjoyed the Force Awakens, even though in hindsight, it can be mistaken for a remake of the original film we saw way back in 1977, so we tried to keep our excitement under control.

What we get here is a new Star Wars adventure that seems to fly past, with some great moments and new characters but was also quite bland as it felt so rushed.

Many questions are answered, the main one of course being Rey’s parents are revealed and a conclusion to the battle of Rey and Kylo Ren comes to a conclusion. Yet many others are frustrating!

After all her build up in the last film, Rose, has little to do and new characters are brought in, yet very little is done with them, we would love more of the Zori Bliss character for example.

The ending is satisfactory, if a little cheesy, but in a movie world dominated by sequels, prequels and reboots you can’t help but think some things have been held back.

THE BMAF RATING

It’s not that this is a bad film, it just feels rushed, new characters such as Zori and Jannah are not given time to be known, yet make an impact. Lando has little more than a cameo but plenty of nods to the saga make this a nostalgic ride, could have been better but we enjoyed it.

4 Stars for a fun if forgettable end to the Star Wars Saga.
